The first, on the left, is home, which is where your timeline lives. To start, let's go through what each button in the navigation bar means. There are also your settings, but we'll get into that a little bit later. Everything you need you can find at the bottom in the navigation bar: home, search, new thread, activity and profile. The Threads user interface is pretty simple for now. You can hit Join Threads to begin browsing through your timeline. You can also serialize your list to a json file. The last page will give you a bit of info about Threads and its future, like how Threads and Instagram are intrinsically tied and how you'll soon be able to interact with other social media platforms, like Mastadon. For instance:Ī closed fracture occurs when your bone breaks without leaving any open wound in the skin. In addition to a displaced and non-displaced fracture, you can also sustain injuries that lead to different types of fractures. The following is one example-manuel technique for a non-displaced Bennett fracture: If that is the case, you may have to go for physical therapy to regain normal muscle strength. You need to bear in mind that sometimes it is important to immobilize a part of your body for quite some time, which may result in loss of muscle strength. If you continue to use, this may turn it into a displaced fracture, which can complicate the whole situation. It is important to restrict movement of the injured area while your injury is still healing. You feel no pain once the healing is complete. It is important that you follow your doctor's advice for quick recovery. Your recovery rate will also change when you have other injuries or medical conditions. The location of your fracture and its severity will determine how long it takes to recover completely. It may take several weeks or longer for your fractured bone to heal properly. You may even develop arthritis if your fracture is near one of your joints. Your doctor will monitor your original fracture carefully to ensure it does not cause any complications. This misalignment can happen even weeks after the original break. These fractures have the risk for further damage because the bone becomes misaligned when you move it. Some fractures start as a non-displaced type but later turns into a displaced fracture. Where you have a fracture will also determine the treatment procedure because you do not usually require protective covering if you have it on the skull. You have to wear it until your bone heals completely. You may have to wear a cast or splint to prevent further damage. Your doctor may give you pain relief medications to help reduce swelling. TreatmentĪs the bone remains aligned after the blow, it is usually easier to treat a non-displaced fracture as compared to a displaced fracture. Before your doctor suggests you to go for a scan, they will look for typical signs of a break, such as tenderness, stiffness, swelling, and severe pain. In some cases, x-rays do not prove helpful, so your doctor may ask you to go for a Computed Tomography (CT) scan. You will need an x-ray to confirm if you have fractured your bone. ![]() It is therefore not easy for a person to tell if you have actually broken your bone or if there is a crack. How to Treat It DiagnosisĪs mentioned early, your bone usually does not protrude when you have a non-displaced and hairline fracture. Non-displaced fractures do not work that way, so they are usually not noticeable with the naked eye. In case of displaced fractures, your bone will shift from its original place and may even protrude from the body. In some cases, the bone does not break completely and there will be a crack on the bone. You usually have a non-displaced and hairline fracture when something hits your bone forcefully. A non-displaced type of fracture is the one in which your bone cracks in only one place and doesn't move to change alignment. Your bone will no longer be aligned in this case. When your bone snaps into two or more parts, this is called a displaced fracture. Both non-displaced and displaced fractures explain more about how the bone breaks. When something hit your bone forcefully, you can develop many different types of fractures, including open, closed, non-displaced, and displaced fracture. Keep reading to learn more about it with some treatment options. Your doctor will ask for an x-ray to confirm what type of break you have. A non-displaced fracture is the one in which your bone brakes in one spot only and stays aligned. This force will make your bone to bend to an extent that it snaps and breaks. You end up dealing with a fracture when a powerful force is applying to one of your bones. ![]() A broken bone is referred to as a fracture in medical term. ![]() ![]() Video does come with a second-long lag, though, and commonly glitchy images, although the audio keeps going. ![]() ![]() Last season Durant shot an absurd 55 percent on midrange jumpers - by far the best in the league for players with over three midrange attempts per game - but he still only took 5.9 per game. Them game is going towards 3s and lays only so why would anyone work on that shot? If it wasn’t forbidden then players would work on it and they would develop that shot.- Kevin Durant October 15, 2019 He got into a lengthy and (mostly) civil debate with Matt Moore of The Action Network just before the 2019-20 season tipped off. ![]() Players like Kevin Durant insist that the midrange shot isn't dead, and that players shouldn't be discouraged from shooting them if they're open, no matter what the analytics say. Not surprisingly, DeRozan, Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs have been criticized for refusing to evolve to the modern game as their record has slipped in recent seasons. While Jordan and Bryant regularly hoisted more than 10 midrange jumpers per game, last season's leader, DeMar DeRozan, attempted 7.2 per game, while LaMarcus Aldridge leads the field this season at just 6.6 per game. Taking that many jump shots inside the 3-point line would be absolutely unheard of in today's game. "You see that look in face and you hear him tell Horace Grant: 'Don't let them see you, don't let them see you whine, don't let them see that you're in pain.' I mean, playing with Kobe Bryant, those were words." "It was wild, sitting there watching these episodes so far, because I feel like I am watching Kobe Bryant play in the '80s and early '90s with a different team," Kings coach Luke Walton told The Athletic about watching Jordan in "The Last Dance" documentary. During the 2008-09 season, when Bryant and the Lakers won their first post-Shaquille O'Neal title, he averaged 1.021 points per possession on post-ups, landing him in the 89th percentile, according to Synergy Sports Technology. As you can see, in just a couple of seasons, the de-emphasis on midrange shots was already becoming a trend. In 2007-08, when Bryant won his only MVP award, he led the league with 660 midrange jumpers. His volume and efficiency on midrange shots were unparalleled.ĭuring the 2005-06 season, when Bryant averaged 35.4 points per game, he shot 976 midrange jumpers (12.2 per game) - over 200 more than the next highest total from Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. ![]() Glen Rice led the league at 50.4 percent on 665 attempts - Jordan nearly doubled that with 1,202 attempts. Jordan made 48.9 percent of those, second among all players with at least 500 midrange attempts that season. The next highest was Cavaliers guard Terrell Brandon at 11.7 per game - a monumental discrepancy. During the 1996-97 season (the furthest back NBA.com goes for this type of data), Jordan led the NBA with 14.7 midrange field goal attempts per game. Jordan and Bryant consistently led the league in midrange field goals in the latter stages of their careers. A look at the stats, however, shows that they not only took more midrange shots than today's players - they also took more midrange shots than their peers. The word "midrange" has become blasphemous in most NBA circles these days, with an emphasis on 3-pointers and layups, so it's not surprising that Jordan and Bryant took more midrange shots than today's superstars. This video that made the rounds several years ago illustrates the similarity by seamlessly metamorphosing Jordan into Bryant, and vice versa, as they execute eerily identical moves and mannerisms. What we do know is that Bryant's game, when it comes down to objective nuts and bolts, looked a whole lot like Jordan's. People often compare Kobe's competitiveness, work ethic and "will to win" to Jordan's, but it's hard to speak about that from an outside perspective. When considering on-court play, however, it's hard to argue that anyone has come closer to Jordan than Kobe Bryant. But anyone who's watched the two legends play can immediately see glaring stylistic and physical differences. In terms of stratospheric stardom, stature and greatness, LeBron James is probably the first name that comes to mind. We all agree that there has been - and likely will never be - another Michael Jordan. It's the starting point of a common, heated basketball argument between friends, colleagues or newfound Twitter rivals. "You can't compare anyone to Michael Jordan. ![]() ![]() ![]() ACMI is not available for purchases made online at the following special stores: Apple Employee Purchase Plan participating corporate Employee Purchase Programs Apple at Work for small businesses Government, and Veterans and Military Purchase Programs, or on refurbished devices.
